Shri Suneet Sharma, General Manager, Eastern Railway conducted annual inspection over Sealdah – Barasat – Bangaon- Ranaghat section of ER’s Sealdah Division in the night of 17 and 18.01.2020.
During the night long inspection, besides inspecting various safety aspects like major rail bridge, track conditions, curves, points & crossings and other infrastructural items, Shri Sharma thoroughly inspected different passenger amenities like Waiting Rooms, drinking water facilities, cleanliness etc. at different stations in the sections.
He instructed all concerned to put their best efforts for maintaining safe train operations and for providing better amenities, services and cleanliness.
Before proceeding for Barasat, Shri Sharma inspected Sealdah station and inaugurated the combined crew booking lobby at Sealdah.
At Barasat, Shri Suneet Sharma, GM/ER inaugurated a battery-operated material transportation van made of used EMU battery as a measure of a green initiative. GM inspected Barasat Car Shed where he also inaugurated a Ladies Coach with Emergency Communication system & a technical library.
He also inaugurated a Health Unit at Barasat and interacted with doctors and staff of the Health Unit. Shri Sharma inspected all the amenities, facilities and circulating area at Barasat station. While interacting with the media persons at Barasat, GM/ER informed them about various on-going developmental activities of Railways.
GM/ER inspected level crossing gate No.16/E between Bamangachhi – Duttapukur and interacted with the Gateman, Gangman and other field staff. He inspected Thakurnagar station and booking office there.
At Bangaon, GM inspected different safety aspects, passenger amenities, Railway colony and Running Room. While inspecting the Running Room at Bangaon, GM/ER inaugurated a room for the lady Loco Pilots and reading room there. During a visit to the Railway Colony at Bangaon, he also interacted with the dwellers of the Railway Colony.
At Satberia Halt, he inaugurated a booking office and inspected the station area. GM inspected major bridge No. 19 V between Satberia and Gopalnagar on Bangaon – Ranaghat section.
GM/ER also conducted a speed trial between Gopalnagar and Ranaghat on the single line section, a stretch of 21.12 km.
All Principal Officers of ER, DRM/Sealdah and Divisional Officers accompanied GM during the inspection.
