Suneet Sharma, General Manager, Eastern Railway in a meeting with all Divisional Railway Managers, Chief Works Managers and other Principal Head of the Departments, Eastern Railway laid great emphasis on the activities of Business Development Units in all the Divisions and Headquarters for attracting more freight traffic so that rail co-efficient may further improve in freight business. In the meeting, commodity-wise loading of freight traffic was reviewed in details and it has been decided to maintain the review of performance in this direction to eliminate any limitation or hindrance.
The GM advised all the Divisional Railway Managers to further gear up constant track maintenance work so as to ensure improvement in the average speed of freight trains as satisfactory to be maintained and further improvement in future to ensure speedy supply of essential and other commodities. He also advised to look after improvement and betterment of goods sheds including improvement of approach road, improvement of wharfs, illumination of goods sheds etc.
Mr.Sharma attached special importance on safety of train running and opined that there will be no compromise with safety matters and zero tolerance will be shown towards safety regulations. Night inspection, construction of road overbridges and road underbridges, safety drive, prevention of subsidence of tracks and bank slip during monsoon season, monsoon patrolling have been advised to be continued with prevailing sincerity.
