EWDFC project works formally launched

Managing Director of DFCCIL, Praveen Kumar, formally launched the EWDFC project works at DFCCIL’s Surat office. At a meeting in New Udhna on Sunday, he reviewed the progress of the East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor (EWDFC).

EWDFC will connect Dankuni (West Bengal) to Surat (Gujarat). He directed the teams at Raipur, Nagpur and Jalgaon to initiate detailed surveys, finalise land planning, and coordinate with state authorities and regional railway divisional headquarters to ensure timely completion of the project. He issued instructions to the teams to commence survey work with immediate effect and expedite implementation of the action plan.

GCT Inspection

He inaugurated a state-of-the-art ‘Track Machine Depot’ and ‘Tower Wagon Shed’ at New Makarpura DFC station and commenced electric train operations at the Varnama Container Depot.

He reviewed terminal connectivity at New Gothangam GCT (Emirates), New Ankleshwar GCT (Savariya Shakti) and Varnama Terminal (CONCOR) and directed finalisation of yard plan in accordance with railway operations. He released a pocket book on over head equipment maintenance for technical field staff.

GCT at New Shambhu

DFCCIL has floated a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of a Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) under Schedule–II at New Shambhu station located between Pilkhani and Sahnewal sections of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC).

Prospective bidders have to do planning, construction, development, and operation of a rail-linked cargo terminal, aimed at improving infrastructure along the EDFC.

Chikoo from New Ancheli

A full rake comprising 15 parcel vans of chikoo was loaded from New Ancheli (ACLN) to Adarsh Nagar Mandi, Delhi. This was the first rake loading of chikoo for this season, by Amalsad Vibhag Vividh Karyakari Sahakari Khedut Mandli Ltd, Amalsad, Gujarat, under the Mumbai Unit of DFCCIL.
