Suneet Sharma, presently General Manager, Eastern Railway, has been appointed as Indian Railways’ next Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He will take over from January 1, 2021, and has been given a tenure of one year.
A Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) Officer of the 1978 batch, he took over as GM Eastern Railway on September 19, 2019.
Prior to this, he held several responsibilities such as General Manager, Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli, Divisional Railway Manager, Pune, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer (Freight), & Chief Mechanical Engineer (Planning), Central Railway and Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, DLW (now BLW), Varanasi.
