On 27.11.2020, General Manger Rajiv Chaudhry reviewed progress of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor falling under North Central Railway territory through video conferencing with MD and other officials of DFCCIL, AGM NCR Ranjan Yadav, PHODs of North Central Railway, DRM and other officials of Prayagraj Division.
In the coordination meeting held between DFCCIL and North Central Railway various items related to expeditious completion of eastern dedicated freight corridor falling on NCR’s territory were discussed and finalized. Progress of important works related to ROBs, RUBs, OHE and signaling requiring joint efforts by DFCCIL and NCR were discussed in the meeting.
Reviewing the progress, General Manager said that proper evaluation of design, drawings etc. of safety critical assets like FOBs, ROBs, RUBs should be done by DFCCIL prior to submission to NCR for expediting approval process. He also advised MD DFCCIL to expedite construction of drain between Railway and DFC tracks, protection works for bridges, balance works on RUB approaches. MD DFCCIL assured that with coordinated efforts complete Khura-Kanpur section of EDFC shall be commissioned within current financial year. It may be noted that Bhaupur-Khurja section of Eastern Dedicated Freight corridor is already in operation and approximately 1400 freight trains have been run using this DFC network.
Later another review meeting was held by CRB & CEO RB V K Yadav along with other Board Members with DFCCIL and concerned Zonal Railways to discuss items related to feeder routes of Railways connecting to DFC network and Business Development plan of DFCCIL.
During this review meeting works required to make feeder routes on Eastern DFC fit for 25 tonnes axle load and fitness of western DFC feeder route for operation of double stack container were discussed and finalized so as full potential of DFC network can be harnessed. During this review, DFCCIL presented business development plan for maximising overall freight transport through railway.
In the overall plan discussed by DFCCIL, new multimodal logistic park at Kanpur and new freight terminals at Tundla, Makhanpur and Daudkhan shall be constructed and commissioned. These modern and efficient freight handling facilities will not only increase railways market share in freight transport but will also help in overall development of these areas and employment generation .
