Konkan Railway commissions two block stations

To increase through put on its system and hence the line capacity, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) commissioned two block stations (railway stations) this week.

Innanje was commissioned as a block station on Wednesday. Situated between Udupi and Padubidri, it existed as a non-block station earlier.

Kharepatan Road railway station situated between Rajapur Road and Vaibhavwadi Road was commissioned on Friday.

This is over and above the electrification works that are being implemented for the whole of KRCL.

Other stations

Meanwhile, four more stations – Indapur, Goregaon road, Sapewamane, and Veravali -are getting ready for conversion from non block to block stations.

In addition, new block stations at Kadwai, Achirne and Mirjan are also coming up.

Moreover, Konkan Railway is also implementing an automatic block section on the Madgaon-Majorda double line section.

In sum, these measures are aimed at the much needed improvements in line capacity for KRCL.
