Lockdowns Gone, SER’s Free Food Distribution to Needy Continues at Smaller Scale

Even though the lockdowns that necessitated zones to begin food distribution at massive scale are mostly gone, South Eastern Railway continues to provide free food to needy at various locations.

According to a statement released by SER, the zone has distributed 4.85 lakh meals till 30th September. A previous update had claimed distribution of 4.84 lakh meals as of 20th September 2020. Thus, only 590 meals have been distributed over the zone in 10 days.

The free meals are being distributed near railway areas in Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi divisions.

Security and other departments of SER and organizations like the South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, SER Bharat Scouts & Guides, St. John Ambulance Brigade, etc are working with the zone to ensure distribution.

Foods have also been distributed through the field units of South Eastern Railway over its jurisdiction and employees are also distributing foods at their personal level or jointly to the needy and poor people.

Not content with this, South Eastern Railway employees are also distributing ration packets containing rice, pulses, potatoes, onions, edible oil, spices, biscuits and such, added the SER statement.
