NCR Increases FY21 Freight Loading By 12.5%, Ranks 4th Among Zones

North Central Railway has achieved freight loading of 16.6 million tons of freight in FY 2020-21, beating the number for 2019-20 by 12.5%, according to data provided by the zone.

Freight loading in FY21 increased by 1.85 million tons from FY20’s 14.75 million tons. NCR’s is now ranked 4th in terms of an increase in freight loading from last year. Revenue earned in FY21 from freight loading was Rs. 1,726.2 crores. This is also a 12.5 per cent increase over last year’s earnings of Rs. 1,530 crores.

This increase was witnessed despite the pandemic related disruption for several months in the early part of FY21.

The zone has also reported significant earnings from sale of scrap. NCR has recorded the highest ever revenue from scrap sale. of more than Rs 265 Cr in FY21. The earnings show an increase of Rs 40 crores over last year’s scrap sale revenue and additional revenue of Rs 45 Cr over the target of Rs 210 Cr set for this FY.
 
According to NCR, the zone has maintained punctuality of 86.7%, an improvement of 57% over FY 2019-20. For goods trains, NCR achieved average speeds of 44.35 kmph in 2020-21, improving performance by 83.5% over the average speed of 24.18 kmph in 2019-20.
