NCR: Rail Claims Tribunal’s Bench Prayagraj completes one year of commissioning.

Last year on 13.10.2019, the 20th Bench of Railway Claims Tribunal was inaugurated in Old General Manager Office of North Central Railway near Valmiki Chauraha by Hon’ble Justice Govind Mathur, Chief Justice Allahabad High Court, in the august presence of Justice KS Ahluwalia, Chairman, Rail Claims Tribunal, Rajiv Chaudhary, General Manager, North Central Railway, Sanjiv Aggarwal, Member (Judicial), Railway Claims Tribunal, Allahabad, Madhusudan Rao, Principal Executive Director, Commercial Railway Board. First Member/Judicial of the bench was Sanjeev Aggarwal.

It may be noted, that there was no Railway Claims Tribunal under the jurisdiction of North Central Railway. Officers and employees here often had to go to Lucknow, Gorakhpur. Even it was more troublesome for those poor applicants who are resident of Prayagraj and nearby and had to travel far away from Railway Claims Tribunals. General Manager of North Central Railway, Rajiv Chaudhry made efforts in this direction and raised the issue in the Railway Board from time to time. Due to the efforts of General manager North Central railway Justice Shri K. S. Ahluwalia Chairman, Railway Claims Tribunal, Delhi approved the opening of Allahabad Bench of Railway Caims Tribunal.

In this new Bench of Railway Claims Tribunal, total 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh Banda, Bhadohi (Sant Ravidas Nagar), Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kannauj, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra And Varanasi districts were included. After the establishment of this bench, cases related to these 17 districts were transferred to Allahabad Bench from Lucknow & Gorakhpur Bench. With speedy disposal, overall 125 cases of claims have been cleared in a limited span of time.
