North Central Railway to complete isolation coach modification work before April 14

NCR has already started the modification work on coaches to convert 290 isolation coaches before April 14, 2020. This will make manpower and other resources available for passenger services which is scheduled to resume since 0000 hrs of April 15,2020. Division and coaching depot wise target for conversion is as under:

Regular review of all items related to COVID-19 containment and essential goods transportation is being done at level of NCR General Manager Rajiv Chaudhry, Principal Head of Departments, DRMs and other senior officials from North Central and Northern Railway.

Some of the important items reviewed on April 2 are as under:

Besides conversions to isolation coaches, NCR is also working on operation, manning, sanitation, services and other protocols for use of these isolation facilities on wheel.

Decisions are being taken on items such as further list of stations having facility for coach watering, electrical charging facility for coach and proper road approach. This is required to decide on stabling locations for these Isolation rakes in consultation with Ministry of Health and state authorities .

NCR is keeping a watch on passenger booking pattern for booking beyond 12 am or 0000 hrs  of April 15,2020  to assess direction wise demand and waitlist position .

The NCR GM has called for a detailed meeting early next week to firm up NCR’s strategy to resume passenger services in safe, smooth and efficient manner once lockdown is over.

RPF of North Central Railway is providing food to the over 1100 needy persons since March 28,2020.

 Another 200 meals per day has been added after the IRCTC run kitchen at Prayagraj joined this initiative starting April 1, 2020.
