New Line: Mysuru – Kushalnagar sanctioned

The Railway Ministry has sanctioned a new railway line between Mysuru (Belagola) and Kushalnagar in Kodagu District of Karnataka.

The line has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 1,855 crores, according to a letter addressed to the General Manager, South Western Railway (SWR) by the Finance Commissioner, Railway Board. The line coves a total distance of about 87 kms.

An interesting fact about this new line is the allocation for Electrification (OHE) of Rs. 59 crores, which probably means that the line will be laid and electrified simultaneously – perhaps the first time a line is electrified at launch.

A copy of this letter was tweeted by the Hon’ble MP for Kodagu, Pratap Simha.
