NFR RPF’s Meri Saheli campaign for safety of women passengers

Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway has started an intensive awareness drive called ‘Meri Saheli’ aiming to respond to any security
related issues pertaining to women passengers travelling by trains.

‘Meri Saheli’ initiative was launched in Train No. 05955 Dibrugarh – Delhi special Train on October 20, 2020 in order to boost the security to female passengers during their journey.
To provide proactive security to female passengers, initially a team of Lady Constables led by an Inspector has been formed at Tinsukia division. The team interacted with the female passengers at Dibrugarh Railway Station and briefed them about all precautions to be taken during journey.

The passengers were informed about RPF Help Line No.182 for emergency and for instant help from RPF. Mobile number of Security Control of Tinsukia division has also been shared with the female passengers. They were requested to dial the number if they face any security related problem in their coaches.
Moreover, train escorting party were given details of female passengers and after completion of escorting duty they have been asked to submit a report.

Further, all the ladies including the traveling passengers were requested to wear mask properly to avoid spreading of COVID-19. Divisional Security Commissioner of Tinsukia division supervised the whole process. RPF staffs have been asked to conduct regular check and awareness campaign
among passengers in other stations also. The drive is part of an ongoing initiative to facilitate female passengers an environment in which they feel safe, secure and comfortable during their journey.
