NFR’s Stores implement User Depot Module, to digitize supply chain

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has started implementation of the User Depot Module (UDM),a digital system developed by Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) to digitize its entire supply chain.

Guwahati Coaching Depot has become the first unit across NFR to implement UDM.

All other Depots of NFR are also implementing UDM and moving towards paperless working. Implementation of UDM results in real-time transactions and online information exchange among all stakeholders. UDM computerizes various material management activities right up to the level of User Depots.

Benefits

  • Complete chain of events starting from material getting issued from stores depot or received from any outside firm, till it gets used and it goes back to Store Depots as scrap can be tracked.
  • Creation of Computerized Ledgers & DMTRs (Daily Material Transaction Reports) for recording receipt and issue transactions by authorized Users resulting in large number of paper saving.
  • Stock Verification and Stock Sheet Management can be done on UDM.
  • Several Exception Reports can be accessed in UDM which helps in analyzing and making informed decisions.
  • Annual requirement of material can be easily reviewed after analyzing consumption trends resulting in huge savings by optimization of stock of materials maintained at the Depots.
  • Demand on other user depots, stores depots which are using UDM can be known and materials can be diverted to such Depots if required.
  • Receipt, acceptance, advice note, gate pass, covering note etc. can all be generated online thereby reducing use of papers.
