North Central Railway Intensifies Efforts Against Covid-19 Pandemic

Approximately 60000 corona warriors of North Central Railway are working tirelessly to ensure uninterrupted transport of goods and passengers across the length and breadth of the country. Besides maintaining essential transport services, NCR has also taken series of steps for augmenting medical infrastructure and resources to fight Covid-19 pandemic in an effective manner.

Moving ahead from face cover and sanitizer production, NCR has already prepared approximately 10000 coveralls through inhouse efforts. As on 08.08.20 total 550 formal and informal training programs on sanitisation and information, education and communication (IEC) have been organized on NCR to equip our medical professionals and other front-line staff with requisite knowledge on novel disease. Screening of Railway employees, their family members and other beneficiaries of Railway medical services have been intensified; and as on 08.08.20 more than 10600 persons have been examined in 05 separate clinics being run to examine persons with fever and symptoms like Covid-19.    

Treatment of Covid-19 positive patients is being done regularly in 100 beds level one facilities at Central Hospital Prayagraj and Divisional Railway hospital Jhnasi. In the Level one Covid care facility at Central Hospital Prayagraj 144 Covid positive patients have been admitted so far of which 12 have been referred to other hospitals and 92 persons have been discharged after successful treatment. Similarly, at Covid-19 level one facility at Railway hospital Jhansi admissions so far are 85 of which 13 have been referred to other hospitals and 72 persons have been discharged after treatment. As on 08.08.20 combined admissions stands at 229 patients of which 164 have been discharged after treatment, 25 have been referred to other hospitals and 40 patients are currently under treatment.

Antigen test of Covid-19 is a faster and approved method to detect certain proteins that are part of Covid-19 virus. Using a nasal or throat swab to get sample fluid, antigen test can produce results in minutes. NCR’s Central Hospital at Prayagraj has also started rapid antigen test for Covid-19 and as on 08.08.20 399 tests have already been done.
