
Northern Railway (NR) successfully commissioned KAVACH 4.0 (MEDHA make) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from New Delhi (Excluding) to Tughlakabad Junction Cabin section of the Delhi–Palwal route.

With this, the NR portion of the New Delhi – Mumbai route (excluding New Delhi station) that is from Tilak Bridge (TKJ) to Palwal (PWL) has been fully covered under KAVACH.
The implementation includes:
- Section Length: 21.6 RKM
- Track km: 86 KM
- STCAS installation at 4 stations (Routes of major yards: Tughlakabad (TKD)- 347, Okhla (OKA)-81, Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM)-442, Tilak Bridge (TKJ)-178)
- 1200+ RFID tags installed
- 1326 Kavach relay wiring and testing
- FAT of 653 Total Kavach Routes
- SAT of 2510 Kavach Aspect Combinations
- 04 Towers for Kavach Communication
- Provision of UP & DN Backbone OFC Network in the Section (42 Km)
- Provision of NMS at New Delhi Control

NR Delhi Division: Ghaziabad Electric Loco Shed successfully installs Kavach in its 300th locomotive
Northern Railway’s (NR) Electric Loco Shed, Ghaziabad successfully completed the Kavach system in its 300th locomotive on May 16, 2026.
In addition, Electric Loco Shed, Ghaziabad successfully organized seven one-day training sessions on armor installation, attended by a total of 309 officers and supervisors from 71 loco sheds across Indian Railways. These training sessions facilitated the exchange of technical knowledge and installation procedures for the Kavach system, which will help improve efficiency and reliability at various sheds.
