The Government of India has notified the doubling of 71.62-km section between Luni and Marwar as a special project in a gazette notification dated July 7, 2026. The notification does not mention the estimated cost of the project.
Doubling of this important section under Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway (NWR) along with the construction of a 4-km bypass line at Marwar junction at a cost of Rs 71 crore will de-congest this saturated route and increase line capacity.
