Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, laid the foundation stone for three railway projects in Vadodara, Gujarat.
They are:
- Vadodara- Ratlam 3rd and 4th line project
- Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project and
- Miyagam Karjan-Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion project.
These three railway projects span 329 kilometres and cost over ₹9,700 crore.
Vadodara- Ratlam 3rd and 4th line
This is an important capacity enhancement project situated on the Delhi Mumbai high density network. It spans 259 route km and is being executed at an estimated cost of ₹ 8885 crore. Once commissioned this project will ease congestion, improve punctuality and increase line capacity on the Delhi Mumbai route.
Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling
This 33-km doubling project is being executed at an estimated cost of ₹394 crore. The project will enhance rail capacity in this section, boosting local trade, strengthen regional connectivity, tourism and industries.
Miyagam Karjan-Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion
Gauge conversion of this erstwhile 37- km long 2 feet 6 inch narrow gauge line belonging to the Gaekwar’s Baroda State Railway is being done at an approximate cost of ₹450 crore.
The project will strengthen regional connectivity for pilgrims and local communities, besides supporting tourism and improving access to important destinations.
PM dedicates Jobat-Tanda Road new line
PM Modi also dedicated Jobat–Tanda Road new rail line to the nation. This line is a part of the Chhota Udepur–Dhar new line project. He inaugurated a passenger train connecting Tanda Road, Jobat, Alirajpur and Chhota Udepur with Vadodara.
The new rail line will connect the tribal areas of Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh with the national rail network and strengthen connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
