Railway Board asks zones to kickstart recruitment

The Railway Board has asked all railway zones to fill up vacancies under the direct quota. This follows the announcement made by the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on January 23 (see table below).

All zones have been asked to identify category-wise vacancy positions as on January 1, 2019 besides estimating the number of vacancies that would arise in the next two years (upto March 31, 2021).

Zones have been also asked to identify vacant posts which may be utilized to create posts in the safety category besides creating posts in categories where workload has increased on account of new assets, doubling, electrification and the like.

All zones have to place their indent to the Board by February 14.

ECR has about 3000 new posts and recruitment for 6000 is already underway, according to a statement. The zone added that vacancies were likely to be announced by the Railway Recruitment Boards this month.
