Train operations were disrupted by examinees appearing for railway recruitment tests at several locations on East Central Railway (ECR) territory today.
The disruptions were caused by rumours of privatization of the Indian Railways that were spread through social media, according to an ECR press briefing. The rumours also suggested that vacancies in the Indian Railways organisation were also being reduced as a result.
Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal has denied the existence of any proposal to privatize Indian Railways.
ECR has appealed to students to ignore all such rumours and to refer to the Railway Recruitment Board websites for official information at the link below:
