Railway Minister Announces Another Private Train: Indore-Varanasi Express, To be Operated by IRCTC

Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal has announced a new train between Indore and Varanasi for the benefit of pilgrims to Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakaleshwar.

The minister made this announcement at an impromptu press conference in Indore. He also said that the proposed overnight service will be run on the private operator model. IRCTC will operate the train.

Details of schedules and other modalities will be worked out and announced later, according to the minister.

This will be the third train to land in IRCTC’s kitty under the private train operations model. IRCTC operates the 82501/02 Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express. The ticketing and catering arm of Indian Railways will also begin commercial runs of the 82901/902 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express on 19th January 2020.
