SCR: GM Holds Meet With Cement, Coal Industry via Video Conference

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a meeting for the first time through a webinar today i.e., 17th June, 2020 from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad with MajorFreight Customers of the Zone to assess the freight loading demand in the current financial year.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager while addressing the major freight customers through webinarexpressed his happiness for the support rendered by freight customers during the present critical times due to pandemic covid-19.

He reiterated that SCR is always in the forefront in extending support and resolving issues pertaining to the freight loading. During the meeting he assured that the officers and staff of the zone will make out a comprehensive and concrete plan of action as per the demand of customers so as to enable the availability of wagons/rakes as per the need and demand from the customers.

Further, he requested freight customers to give their valuable suggestions to streamline the freight loading to make it more user friendly.

Freight customers expressed their happiness for the excellent support received by the Railway authorities by offering various incentives and liberalising the rules during Covid-19 lock down.

They have also requested to defer levying of detention charges for some more period due to curfews, non-availability of labour and maintaining social distancing norms in loading/unloading. General Manager assured that all the requests and suggestions received from the customers will be forwarded to Railway board for consideration.

General Manager detailed the cement customers about various incentive schemes available on Indian Railways and also informed about new concept of concession Round Trip Traffic and advised them to utilise the benefits of the scheme.

Coal Traffic is the major contributor of the Zone’s freight loading basket. But, Due to Covid-19, the loading has taken a setback in the first quarter. In this regard, Zone has requested SCCL authorities to take proactive steps to enhance loading.

Shri B. B. Singh, Additional General Manager, SCR,Shri K.Siva Prasad, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Shri G.John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Shri B.Nagya, Chief Freight Traffic Manager, Dr.B.S.Christopher, Chief Commercial Manager(Freight Services) and Shri Allwyn, Executive director, SCCL attended the meeting at Rail Nilayam. Senior Divisional officials of all Six Divisions and the major cement customers like Ultratech, Ramco, My Home, Kesoram, Bharti and Orient cements among them have participated in the meeting through video conference.
