SR: Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee Meeting held

The 127th Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting of Southern Railway was convened today, the 30th of October 2019 at Chennai. 

The meeting was presided by the Chairman of the Committee, Shri.John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway and attended by Shri P.K.Mishra, Addl General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments of Railways, DRM Chennai and ZRUCC Members. 

Members from various fields representing passenger associations, Consumer organisations, Chamber of Commerce,  Public Sector Undertakings, Persons nominated to represent Agricultural interest, Members nominated from Divisional Railway Users’ Committees of Divisions of Southern Railway, MLAs, nominees of MPs and officials representing State Government participated in the meeting.

The Members evinced keen interest in the deliberations. Speaking at the meeting, the General Manager briefed about the various developmental activities and measures undertaken by the zone to enhance the comforts of rail users. The members represented various issues pertaining to rail travel including the introduction of trains, additional stoppages and timings of trains as well as improved amenities for passengers.

General Manager assured that matters within the purview of the zone will be taken up and also sought the co-operation of the members in taking forward the zone’s initiatives on railway development. Shri T.Narayanan, from the ZRUCC was elected to the NRUCC (National Rail Users Consultative Committee) to represent the interests of the zonal ZRUCC at the National level .
