SWR: 162 Km Electrification Works Complete, Ready for CRS Inspection From 7th-9th March

South Western Railway has completed electrification works on 162 km of lines and inspection by the Commissioner for Railway Safety is scheduled between 7th and 9th of March 2021.

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) is the executing agency for electrification work on the Hubballi to Vasco, Ballari to Chikjajur & Baiyappanahalli to Salem routes.

Electrification of the Hosapete-Hubballi-Castle Rock route will be complete in the next six months, claims SWR in a statement released today.

Bengaluru Division: CRS Schedule and Electrification Status

CRS will inspect a 47 kilometre stretch between Periyanagathunai and Palakkodu, part of the Baiyyappanahalli – Omalur Section, on 7th March 2021.

So far, 72 route kilometres between Baiyyappanahali, Anekal Road and Periyanagathunai has been commissioned. With CRS approval, a total of 119 Rkm out of 196 Rkm will be complete.

Hubballi Division: CRS Schedule and Electrification Status

In Hubballi division, CRS will inspect 65 Rkm between Hubballi and Alnawar on 8th March 2021. This stretch is part of the Hosapete – Hubballi – Vasco section.

Electrification between Kariganuru – Harlapur (73 RKm) was completed this year. Work on the 99 km Hosapete to Hulkoti section is also complete.

Electrification between Hulkoti – Hubballi and Alnavar – Castle Rock is in progress and is targeted for June 2021. Works such as tests and inspection by senior Railway officials are complete. The mandatory loco trial prior to a CRS inspection was done on 3rd March. With this, 138 Rkm electrification has been completed in this section.

Mysuru Division: CRS Schedule and Electrification Status

On Mysuru Division, the CRS will inspect 50 Rkm between Thalaku and Chitradurga on 9th March 2021. This is part of the section between Ballari and Chikjajur.

SWR has already completed electrification on 111 km of route in the financial year 2020-21.

  1. The worst performance has been SWR one can notice that out of 3550 km only 700odd km has been electrified.there are ma y route aroud bangalore where doubling and electrificatio is yet to be commenced or completed.step motherly attitude in spite of a favorable Govt.
