SWR: Shivamogga Town-Yasvantpur Tatkal Express Inaugural Special Flagged Off

The inaugural special of Shivamogga Town-Yasvantpur Tatkal special was flagged off at Shivamogga Town by Shri B.Y.Raghavendra, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shivamogga.

Speaking on the occasion,  the Hon’ble Member of Parliament thanked Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Shri. Piyush Goyal , Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Railways, Shri. Suresh Angadi and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B.Y.Yediyurappa for being instrumental in introducing the new Tatkal special to Yasvantpur and lauded the efforts of the South Western Railway Administration headed by Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager.

He also thanked Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Smt. Aparna Garg for working relentlessly in fructifying the very long pending demand of the people of this region for a daily rail connectivity to the Capital City Bengaluru departing in the afternoon even in the face of severe operational constraints for running trains and said the rail service in Shivamogga has seen a phenomenal growth in the last decade and expressed confidence that trains which are now running up to Yasvantpur will be further extended up to Bengaluru City station.

He urged people to make full use of the train and increase the patronage so that trains could be regularized.

Shri Raghavendra also spoke of the other infrastructural developments like new coaching  terminal at Kotegangur and  said the new terminal is poised to usher in an era of development in this region. He expressed the confidence that the State Government would be very proactive in supporting the initiatives of the Railways and there would be no dearth for release of the State Govt’s share of the project cost for construction of four  ROB in city limits.

Hon’ble MLCs Shri Rudregowda, Shri Ayanur Manjunath, Shri Ashok Naik, Worshipful Mayor and Dy.Mayor of Shivamogga City Corporation,  Dy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Shivamogga District were present in the function.

Later the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, hoisted the Monumental Flag in the circulating area of Shivamogga Town Railway station. The 100 ft. height mast with 30 ft. x 20 ft. Monumental Flag is made of a knitted polyester fabric called Deneir Polyester. The Chakra of the flag is printed by using specialised printing.

The hoisting of Monumental Flag is part Railway Ministry’s sustained endeavour to inspire young Indians to take pride in displaying the National Flag and instil a sense of patriotism among the citizens.
