Ticketless Travellers Undeterred By COVID-19 Pandemic, 43,500+ Nabbed By Central Railway

Central Railway’s Mumbai division has caught more than forty-three thousand people travelling without tickets between June and November 2020.

Over 1.5 crore was collected as fine from the freeloaders. The zone conducts regular ticket checking drives to catch such ticketless travellers in suburban and long-distance trains.

According to data provided by Central Railway, 43,526 cases were detected. Out of these, 39,516 were caught in Mumbai’s local trains and the rest in long-distance trains. They were made to cough up 1.1 crore and 40 lakhs in fines respectively.
