Research Design & Standards Organization (RDSO), the research wing of Indian Railways has issued the final speed certificate for running the WAG-9HH electric locomotive at 100 kmph.
The 9000 HP locomotive is used to haul goods rakes. RDSO issued the certificate after the locomotive (WAG-9HH number 90002) successfully cleared the oscillation and EBD (emergency braking distance) trials conducted at RDSO.
This loco will now be put in service after obtaining statutory sanction from the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS).
CLW produced this high power locomotive on December 12, 2019. Trials were conducted between January 31 and February 26 on Northern Railway.
