WR: Branded WAP-5 Locomotive Earns Zone 1.5 Crore

In yet another initiative Western Railway has come up with a new initiative of generating revenue through branding of locomotives. Inauguration of branding of the locomotive was done on 1st February 2020 at Vadodara Electric Loco Shed.

Shri Mukesh Mishra- Sr.Technician who will be retiring this month from Electric Loco Shed inaugurated this initiative in the presence of Shri Devendra Kumar- Divisional Railway Manager of Vadodara Division. Also present were Shri Harikesh Meena- Sr Divisional Electrical Engineer(TRS); Dr Zenia Gupta- Sr Divisional  Commercial Manager and other railway officials.

According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, this branding of locomotives has opened up channels under Non Fare Revenue. Western Railway has got the branding of its 10 Electric Locomotives done at Electric Loco Shed at Vadodara, generating additional revenue of Rs.1.05 Cr.

This will also result in saving of expenditure of Rs. 8.10 lakhs to the railways by way of painting of locos. The branding is been done as per the approved specifications and the painting is done by a professional agency by the party. Shri R. K  Lal- Principal Chief Commercial Manager & Shri Sanjiv Bhutani- Principal Chief Electrical Engineer has played a major role for the implementation of this idea.
