Central Railway, Pune Division has successfully commissioned the Ghorpuri–Hadapsar 3rd Line on October 5,2026. This includes necessary alterations in Route Relay Interlocking, Pune and existing Electronic Interlocking, Hadapsar.
These works were carried out in a span of 15 days with the help of Track Relaying, Duomatic, Poclain, Hydra, JCBs and gas cutting equipment. A total manpower of 745 personnel including 485 contractual and 260 departmental staff were deployed for this work.
Benefits:
· Commissioning of the Ghorpuri–Hadapsar 3rd line will result in significant enhancement of section capacity of the Pune–Daund section and improve mobility of freight traffic, ensuring more efficient rake movement.
·It will provide a dedicated transfer line between the rake maintenance depot and the proposed Hadapsar Satellite Terminal without affecting UP/DOWN Main-line operations, thereby facilitating commencement of new train services from Hadapsar.
·The 3rd line will also serve as an alternate shunting neck for rake formation, sorting, engine/brake-van reversal and other shunting operations, thereby reducing detention on the Main line and improving punctuality, besides enhancing operational flexibility, facilitating smoother movement of both passenger and freight trains.
·Overall, it will help in decongestion of Pune station by facilitating transfer and operational activities through the Hadapsar Satellite Terminal.
