Central Railway (CR) successfully commissioned yard remodelling work at Jalgaon station on September 24, 2026 as part of the ongoing 5th line works between Bhadli and Jalgaon.
The work was completed with 12 days of preparation, six days of Pre-Non-Interlocking work (Pre NI) and 23 hours of Non-Interlocking works (NI), with reconnection completed as scheduled. The yard re-modelling aims to enhance line capacity and improving operational flexibility in the Bhusawal–Jalgaon section.
Yard re-modelling details
The works involved extensive modifications to the existing Siemens make Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system as follows:
- Number of routes has increased from 303 to 323
- Alterations carried out in 134 existing routes.
- Seven new main signals were commissioned,
- Two additional aspects were provided in existing signals and one signal was shifted.
- One point was inserted / shifted and three points were removed
- The above works also involved modification of the track-circuiting arrangement, with 68 existing track circuits, five new track circuits and two rearranged track circuits
- Efftronics make SSBPAC (D) systems towards the 5th Line on both Jalgaon and Bhadli sides were also commissioned.
Engineering works
Engineering works executed as part of yard re-modelling included:
- Dismantling of two turnouts
- Insertion of one derailing switch while dismantling two others
- 20 glued joints were inserted and 14 were removed.
- Complete Track Renewal (CTR) of 300 metres of loop line was done using 60 kg rails and sleepers
- 500 metres of new track was linked.
- About 1,700 cubic metres of ballast was unloaded
- Three Switch Expansion Joints (SEJs) were inserted
Electrical and Traction Distribution (TRD) works
Works included the following:
- Conversion of tramway-type Overhead Equipment (OHE) to conventional OHE with additional isolation of the Jalgaon UP Yard from the main line block
- Construction of 18 foundations,
- Erection of 5 TTUs with booms and one portal,
- 0.8 TKM of new wiring,
- Erection of 2 ATDs and 2 FTAs, one isolator and one section insulator, along with 2 G-jumpers and 20 brackets.
Other works
Several shadow-block works were also executed simultaneously during the Jalgaon Yard NI block, ensuring optimum utilisation of the traffic block.
This included
- Girder launching for the Bhadli Foot Over Bridge (FOB),
- Emergency crossover tamping of newly laid Points 144A and 144B on the UP and DN lines,
- Tamping of Point 142A and ballast unloading in the Bhadli yard turnout and 5th Line track-circuited zone
- Girder insertion work at Bridge No. 421/1 on the DN line.
- Yearly OHE gantry maintenance of Bhusaval Sub sectioning & Paralleling (SSP) and Bhusaval Yard Switching(YS)
- Yearly PSI maintenance of Bhusaval YS and half-yearly Power Supply Installation (PSI) maintenance of Bhusaval SSP
