South Eastern Railway Takes Major Initiatives For Maintenance Of Passenger Amenities

South Eastern Railway has taken major initiatives for maintenance of passenger amenities at all stations in its jurisdiction despite suspension of passenger services in the wake of Covid-19 followed by lockdowns. Improvement, augmentation and maintenance of passenger amenities at Railway stations are continuous processes and have been done as per requirement. Normal works are being taken up for up gradation of passenger amenities as per classification of stations.

Passenger amenities and passenger facilities have been taken care of during lockdowns as a part of asset maintenance activities. Presently there are 13 Lifts and 14 Escalators in South Eastern Railway and these have been well maintained on regular basis. Though passenger movement at stations has been done in restricted manner yet the maintenance works are being continued regularly. The maintenance of passenger amenity areas are extension and surfacing of platforms, second class & first class waiting halls, ladies waiting rooms, retiring rooms, station toilets, dust bins, wash basins, circulating areas, booking offices, parcel offices, station fans, fluorescent lights, foot over bridges, stair cases etc. Special care has been taken to disinfect these important gears.

 It is mandatory to clean the stations premises and station interface keeping in good working order at all times. Thorough sanitization process is also being done at all areas of passenger amenity. Passenger amenity maintenance is the important activity for day to day monitoring.
