Southern Railway Begins Weekly Erode-Delhi Cargo Express Service

Southern Railway has decided to start a new Cargo Express Train between Erode and New Delhi to help small traders. The goods express train will start from Erode Railway Junction every Friday to Delhi or its proximity.

The train will start from Erode on every Friday at 15.00 hours. Small industrial units, agricultural producers, traders are given the flexibility to load any number of wagons from four divisions – Salem, Madurai, Trichy and Chennai.

However, at a single location, a minimum of ten wagons should be loaded either by a single party or by multiple parties.

Salient features of the Erode – New Delhi Cargo Express Train:

*  Cargo express train is time-bound and will reach the destination in 60 hrs from Erode

*  Single or multiple parties can load minimum of 10 wagons from any station of all the four divisions to single destination on weekdays

*  After aggregating the wagons from multiple locations, the train will leave from Erode Junction on every Friday, 15.00 hours.

*  Party indented to despatch on Friday should complete by Thursday in all the locations.

*  Freight per tonne will be charged as per extended commercial rule.

*  Despatch of train is subject to minimum available load of 30 wagons.

*  Destinations other than Delhi area will be considered based on demand.

Southern Railway has taken an initiative which is expected to assist Small Scale Industries and farmers by transporting their products through goods train during this lockdown period.
