SWR: Bengaluru – Hubballi Train Services Disrupted Due to JCB Hitting Goods Train

Through train services on the high density Bengaluru-Hubballi Section was affected this evening following an unusual incident in which A JCB working close to railway track came on track and hit with an empty goods formation on run between Tolhunse and Davangere stations about 03 km from Davangere at around 17.15hrs.

There are no fatalities but the earth moving equipment was completely damaged. Due to the impact, as many as 27 concrete sleepers were damaged leading to regulation of train services on the stretch.

The punctuality of following trains was affected.

  1. Train No.19668. KSR Bengaluru to Udaipur Humsafar express regulated at Tolahunse.
  2. Train No.12725 KSR Bengaluru to Hubballi Intercity superfast express regulated at Mayakonda.
  3. Train No.12629 Yeswantpur to Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark kranti superfast express regulated at Holalkere.
  4. Train No.56517 Chitradurga to Harihar passenger regulated at Chikjajur.
  5. Train No.56912 Hubballi to KSR Bengaluru passenger regulated at Haveri.
  6. Train No.16588 Bikaner to Yeshwantpur express regulated at Karajgi.
  7. Train No.16577 Yeswantpur to Harihar express regulated at Kadur.

Senior officials of Mysuru Division are at the site attending to attending to repair works to facilitate resumption of train services.

Meanwhile, an enquiry has been ordered by the Railways to ascertain the circumstances under which the incident occurred.

South Western Railway expresses deep regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers in this regard.

Obstruction cleared and track restored at 21.35hrs. Normal through train services have now been resumed.
