Indian Railways has realigned the territorial jurisdiction of Palakkad Division, Southern Railway (SR) effective October 1, 2026 transferring Mangaluru area in Karnataka to South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru Division.
In a letter dated August 21,2026, the Ministry of Railways said that the Mangaluru area until Ullal (including) will fall under SWR Mysuru Division effective October 1, 2026.
With this, the zonal inter change point between SWR and SR will shift from Padil to Ullal. Thokur will remain a part of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL). However, SR- KRCL boundary at Thokur will become SWR -KRCL boundary.
Eight railway stations namely Ullal. Tokkoottu, Nethravathi Cabin, Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru Junction, Padil, Kulashekara and Jokatte will now be transferred to SWR Mysuru Division.
Exchange of railway men will be done as follows:
For Group A Officers, transfer orders will be issued in due course while extant rules will apply for Group B Officers. Transfer of non-gazetted Group C and Group D staff posts will be done on an ‘as is where is’ basis. They will be given an option to stay in SR or switch to SWR.
Those exercising the option of switching to SWR will be transferred on administrative grounds with their seniority fixed according to their length of service in that particular level in Railways’ hierarchy called grade.
