The new 10.7 Km double line with 25 KV Electrified section from Devarapalle to Hindupur was commissioned on 15.12.2021 after Statutory inspection and speed Trial by Shri Abhai Kumar Rai, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) southern Circle. It is a part of Yelahanka – Penukonda doubling project.
The works completed between Devarapalle -Hindupur under this project are, one additional goods loop line with concreted loading Platform at Devarapalle. Devarapalliph – III and Final yard commissioning with five road with doubling towards Hindupurstation, Hindupur ph I yard commissioning with three road with doubling towardsDevarapalle station in Phase I.
Yelahanka – Penukonda doubling project was sanctioned in 2015-16 at Rs.860.43 Crs. A total of about 82 Kms of doubling is completed with the commissioning of Devarapalle – Hindupur Section in this Yelahanka – Penukonda project. The work of commissioning of Hindupur – Penukonda section for length of 38 Kms is on fast progress.
Yelahanka – Penukonda Railway line connects major routes leading to Mumbai, Delhi and other important places. Major trains like Rajdhani Express, Karnataka Express run along this line.
Commissioning of this section will enhance the line capacity and improve speed and punctuality of trains. It will also reduce the dependence on fossil fuels.
