SWR: New Railway Station Opened Between Hosur And Anekal

A new block station Maranayakanahalli (Station code MNKH) was opened today for rail traffic. Ashok Kumar Verma, Divisional Manager and other Officers of Bengaluru Division were present on the occasion.


Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar Verma said that the newly commissioned Station will be the serving station for Private Freight Terminal (PFT) of M/s. Distribution Logistics Infracture (DLI) private Ltd which will be opened to freight traffic shortly. He informed that the first incoming rake of DLIPFT is expected by next week. He also said that with this, a new stream of incoming freight traffic will start.


Maranayakanalli station is situated at Km 165.965 between Hosur and Anekal Stations on Bengaluru – Salem section of Bengaluru Division in South Western Railway. This new station, by splitting the 14km block section between Hosur and Anekal, will increase the existing line capacity of the Baiyyappanahalli – Omalur section.


Indian Railways has chalked out a plan to allow private freight terminals (PFTs) on railway land adjacent to stations with a view to utilising vacant land parcels better, increase public-private-partnership (PPP) investments and boost freight revenue.
