Shri R.N. Singh, General Manager (Retired), Southern Railway, released his book, Beyond the Ivy League: Traits, Skills and Wisdom That Make Great Leaders, on Saturday in Mumbai.The book is published by publishing house Simon & Schuster.
The book was formally released by Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Dr Sadanand Vasant Date, in the presence of General Manager, Western Railway, Shri Ramashray Pandey, General Manager, Central Railway, Shri Rajeev Shrivastava, senior railway officials and academicians.
The author gleans insights from his three decade old experience of working with Indian Railways (IR). The book explores the essential traits, decision-making abilities and practical wisdom that define transformative leadership beyond formal academic credentials while outlining learning on strategic governance, project management, organisational excellence and executive leadership.
The book is expected to be useful for civil servants, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, management professionals, educators and students.

Shri R.N. Singh General Manager (Retired), Southern Railway is a 1986 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE). An alumnus of IIT Roorkee, he held several senior positions in IR including Principal Executive Director (Infrastructure), Secretary, Railway Board, Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), and Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi Division.
