Konkan Railway has just completed delivery of two Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMUs) to the Department of Railways, Nepal. The agreement to supply these DEMUs was signed between KR and Nepal in May 2019 at a cost of Rs. 52.46 crores.

The 1,600 hp, three-phase AC-AC propulsion trainsets were built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. Nepal Railway will operate the two broad gauge DEMUs between Kurtha in Nepal and Jayanagar in India.

Each DEMU trainset has one Driving Motor Coach, one Driving Trailer Coach and three Trailer Coaches. One of the trailer coaches is airconditioned.

The DEMUs were run under their own power from Jaynagar to Janakpur in Nepal when being delivered.
