Eastern Railway is running freight trains on 24×7 basis to maintain the supply chain of essential commodities and other inputs at different areas during lock down period. Freight rakes containing rice, maize, onion, sugar, fertiliser, POL products, coal , minerals, cement etc are running to transport those to different corners of the country.
ER has run a total of 273 freight trains on 06.06.2020. The details of which are as follows:
Ash – 2 Rakes
Ballast & Railway Material Consignment – 4 Rakes
Rice & Food Grains – 7 Rakes
Cement – 23 Rakes
Clinker – 3 Rakes
Container- 16 Rakes
Fertiliser – 5 Rakes
Coal & Mineral- 56 Rakes
Steel- 7 Rakes
Maize- 3 Rakes
POL product- 2 Rakes
Onion – 2 Rakes
Slag – 3 Rakes
Stone- 9 Rakes
Sugar – 2 Rakes
Besides, 129 Empty Rakes were dispatched to different freight operating points to facilitate loading of essential commodities. Everywhere health & hygiene of field staff are well taken care of keeping in view the basic guidelines of social distancing. Proper sanitization is also being done wherever required.
