Gujarat Express to carry express cargo between Mumbai and Ahmedabad

Western Railway will started providing “express cargo service” in collaboration with India Post between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This service will provided on WR’s train number 22953 Gujarat Express under the aegis of Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Service. 

The first consignment from Mumbai under this scheme was loaded in Mumbai – Ahmedabad Gujarat Express on Thursday, 28th July, 2022.

It was flagged off by G V L Satyakumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Central Division and Veena R Srinivas, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle.

This joint IR and India Post offering aims to provide seamless connectivity for movement of goods and parcels and targets Business to Consumer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B) shippers.

It focuses on e-commerce and MSME market offering affordable price as per the market trends of weight category between 35 to 100 kg.

This initiative is pursuant to the recent Budget announcement for providing end to end logistic solutions by IR and India Post.This Service will be beneficial to e-commerce companies, pharma companies, readymade cloth factories, manufacturers of engineering goods, motor vehicles parts, consumer products, etc.

Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Service was first started as a pilot project on Western Railway’s Train Number 19045 Tapti Ganga Express departing from Surat. The first parcel van loaded with consignments departed from Surat for Varanasi on March 31, 2022.
