IR launches HR App for employees enhancing transparency

Employees of Indian Railways (IR) have a reason to feel happy. On, Thursday, Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board unveiled the HRMS mobile application.

Designed and developed by IR’s IT arm, Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).the application enables all IR employees to see their service related data. Employees may also communicate with administration for any changes, if any using the app.

This app allows an employee to view his historical data since his date of joining in IR. This includes details related to increments, promotions, awards, transfers, postings, leave, training, and composition of family as per records besides nominations for retirement benefits.

Presently, this information is not readily available to an IR employee at present.

The app aims to bring transparency in administration while acting as a single window communication system between employees and the administration.

IR has already captured data of 11.19 lakh employees (93 per cent of total) as part of a comprehensive exercise of entry and validation.

Employees can see a scanned copy of their service record. Besides, they can also see e-Service Record which is compiled based on entries made in HRMS Application. The HRMS app is touted as an important milestone in automation of HR related functionalities of IR.

This app is available on Google Play Store – HRMS Employee Mobile App for Indian Railways.


To access their records, employees need to register by entering IPAS No (Integrated Payroll & Accounting System Number) / Provident Fund Number.

A one-time password (OTP) will then be sent to the employee’s mobile number available in IR’s records.

The employee must enter the OTP to complete registration process.

If an employee’s mobile number is not available, one may contact the establishment section in Railway Board to gain access to this application.
