North Central Railway Scaled New Heights In Passenger And Freight Train Operations In June-2020

In a video conference held on 01.07.20 with PHODs and DRMs of North Central and Northern Railway, General Manager Sri Rajiv Chaudhry reviewed status of safety related measures taken on both Railways and stressed that safety in train operations must always remain our primary concern. He said that all Railway officers are safety officers in their own domain and we all have to strive continuously towards safe and efficient train operations.

On loading front North Central Railway has achieved freight loading of 1.43 million tonnes in June-20 which is 8.33% higher than 1.32 million tonnes loading in June-19. To ensure supply of food grain across the length and breadth of the country 1.6 Lakhs tonnes food grain was loaded in June-20 which is double of 80000 tonnes food grain loaded last year in June. Agra division of North Central Railway achieved highest ever loading of 153 petroleum and Bitumen rakes from Baad depot during the month. Earning from freight loading in June-20 is Rs 150.51 crores which is approximately Rs 35 crores higher than Rs 115.69 earned in June-2019.

In June , 2020 , 100% punctuality performance was achieved by all three divisions on many occasions with Agra division achieving it on 15 days , Praygraj division on 04 days and Jhansi division on 15 days. With efficient operation of trains on all three divisions, NCR maintained excellent punctuality of 94% in June besides achieving 100% Punctuality on 21.06.20 & 23.06.20.

Apart from coaching trains, Freight trains are also running efficiently on NCR and goods trains clocked average speed of 40.5 Kmph in June-20 registering 75% increase over last year. NCR is already working on mission 50 Kmph average speed of goods trains through various measures including operations of freight trains on twin pipe braking system. All new freight wagons equipped with this facility have two pressurized air pipes in braking system called Brake Pipe(BP) and Feed Pipe(FP) over the conventional system of single Brake Pipe.

Charging through additional feed pipe considerably reduces Brake release time after each brake application thus reduces time to cover certain distance and improved speed of goods trains. All the divisions on North Central Railway have started monitoring running of freight rake equipped with twin pipe in twin pipe mode and efforts are also being made to segregate single pipe and twin pipe wagons to form more twin pipe freight rakes.

Excellent performance in passenger and freight operations over NCR has been fully supported with excellent maintenance of all assets like tracks, rolling stock, OHE , signalling, locomotives etc. though timely completion of all corrective and preventive maintenance activities with Covid-19 related precautions.
