NR to provide minimum essential amenities at each of its 1025 stations

Northern Railway (NR) will provide minimum essential amenities at each of its 1025 railway station according to General Manager (GM), NR, Ashutosh Gangal.

These include increase of platform height, PA system, foot-over-bridges, platform shelter, drinking water, water coolers, seating arrangements,toilets, lightings, parking-cum-circulating area, time-table display board, signage, electronic train indicator boards and dustbins.

The move is as per the Ministry of Railways policy, Gangal said, while holding a review meeting with departmental heads of NR and DRMs.

The agenda included keeping focus on safety on tracks, mobility enhancement work, business development units and freight loading.

He reviewed safety works on parameters such as track/weld maintenance standards, monitoring of rail fractures,foggy weather protocols, electrical safety in relay/panel rooms for safe train operations.

 He stressed upon minimizing human failure in train operation. He called for maintaining 95 per cent punctuality, keep pace for freight loading besides scrap disposal.

On freight business,he observed that loading of food grains and other items have steadily increased with every passing month. He urged BDUs to ensure that the initiatives and concessions offered by the Railways should reach the clients.

Sanchay Mala Express

NR’s Delhi Division formed and loaded its second hybrid freight train Sanchay Mala Express on October 25,2021.

The rake combined 10 BOST wagons (carrying TMT bars) to Tata steel siding, Tiruninravur and 33 BCN wagons (carrying food grains) to Sevur (Madras Division, Southern Railways) earning a revenue of Rs 81.5 lakh covering 2440 km.
