Several NFR stations get better passenger amenities in December 2020

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) enhanced its coverage of better passenger facilities in December as part of its ongoing exercise.

In December 2020, the number of stations over NFR having digital train indication boards rose from 28 to 33 while the number of stations having digital coach indicators on its platforms rose from 27 to 30.

Train Indication Boards guide passengers with information on arrivals and departures along with platform numbers.

Coach indicators provide the exact location of each coach in a rake helping passengers to avoid rushing when a train arrives.

Digital Clocks, Integrated Passenger Information System, personal computer-based public address system, digital museum and free WiFi complete the bouquet of digital initiatives provided by Indian Railways (IR) across its railways stations.

NFR added one more station to its list of those with Integrated Passenger Information System taking its tally to 18 in December. Public address systems were added at 10 more stations taking the total to 349. Four new stations got digital clocks taking the NFR tally to 228.

Free WiFi

NFR provided high speed free wifi facilities at 4 more stations namely Silghat Town (Lumding Division), Dhubri (Alipurduar Division) besides Sukna and Haldibari (Katihar Division) in December. The total number of stations in NFR with free wi-fi stood at 374.
