Southern Railway has announced several new special trains for various cities in addition to extending the services of more trains. Timings for some trains have also been revised. See details below:
New Special Trains
1. Shatabdi Special Trains (6 days a week) between Chennai Central – Coimbatore
Train No.06029 Chennai Central – Coimbatore Shatabdi special train will leave Chennai Central at 07.10 hrs. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10.04.2021 onwards to reach Coimbatore at 14.15 hrs. the same day.
Train No.06030 Coimbatore – Chennai Central Shatabdi special train will leave Coimbatore at 15.05 hrs. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10.04.2021 onwards to reach Chennai Central at 22.15 hrs. the same day.
Composition: Executive AC Chair Car – 1 & AC Chair Car – 7 coaches. Stoppages: Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.
2. Humsafar Special Trains (Bi-weekly) between Kochuveli – Banaswadi
Train No.06319 Kochuveli – Banaswadi Humsafar special train will leave Kochuveli at 18.05 hrs. on Thursdays & Saturdays from 10.04.2021 onwards to reach Banaswadi at 10.30 hrs. the next day.
Train No.06320 Banaswadi – Kochuveli Humsafar special train will leave Banaswadi at 19.00 hrs. on Fridays & Sundays from 11.04.2021 onwards to reach Kochuveli at 09.35 hrs. the next day.
Composition: AC 3-tier – 16 coaches. Stoppages: Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrisur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Bangarpet and Krishnarajapuram. Train No.06320 Banaswadi – Kochuveli Humsafar special train will stop at Whitefield also.
3. Uday Special Trains (6 days a week) between Coimbatore – KSR Bengaluru

Train No.06154 Coimbatore – KSR Bengaluru Uday special train will leave Coimbatore at 05.45 hrs. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10.04.2021 onwards to reach KSR Bengaluru at 12.40 hrs. the same day.
Train No.06153 KSR Bengaluru – Coimbatore Uday special train will leave KSR Bengaluru at 14.15 hrs. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10.04.2021 onwards to reach Coimbatore at 21.00 hrs. the same day.
Composition: Double deck AC Chair Car – 5 & Second Class Chair Car – 5 coaches. Stoppages: Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Kuppam and Krishnarajapuram. Train No.06153 KSR Bengaluru – Coimbatore Uday special train will stop at Coimbatore North also.
4. Weekly Super Fast Special Trains between Coimbatore – Chennai Central
Train No.02682 Coimbatore – Chennai Central weekly super fast special train will leave Coimbatore at 23.30 hrs. on Fridays from 16.04.2021 onwards to reach Chennai Central at 07.20 hrs. the next day.
Train No.02681 Chennai Central – Coimbatore weekly super fast special train will leave Chennai Central at 22.30 hrs. on Saturdays from 17.04.2021 onwards to reach Coimbatore at 06.30 hrs. the next day.
Composition: AC 2-tier – 2, AC 3-tier – 6, Sleeper Class – 6 & General Second Class – 4 coaches.
Stoppages: Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Katpadi and Arakkonam. Train No.02682 Coimbatore – Chennai Central weekly superfast special train will stop at Perambur also. Train No.02681 Chennai Central – Coimbatore weekly superfast special train will stop at Coimbatore North also.
5. Weekly Super Fast Special Trains between Ernakulam Jn. – Banaswadi
Train No.06161 Ernakulam Jn. – Banaswadi weekly super fast special train will leave Ernakulam Jn. at 16.50 hrs. on Sundays from 11.04.2021 onwards to reach Banaswadi at 03.55 hrs. the next day.
Train No.06162 Banaswadi – Ernakulam Jn. weekly super fast special train will leave Banaswadi at 19.00 hrs. on Mondays from 12.04.2021 onwards to reach Ernakulam Jn. at 06.00 hrs. the next day.
Composition: AC 2-tier – 1, AC 3-tier – 4, Sleeper Class – 12, General Second Class – 4 & Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.
Stoppages: Aluva, Thrisur, Ottappalam, Palakkad, Podanur, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Tirupattur, Bangarapet and Krishnarajapuram.
6. Weekly Special Trains between Puducherry – Mangalore Central (Via Salem)
Train No.06855 Puducherry – Mangalore Central weekly special train will leave Puducherry at 16.45 hrs. on Thursdays from 15.04.2021 onwards to reach Mangalore Central at 10.00 hrs. the next day.
Train No.06856 Mangalore Central – Puducherry weekly special train will leave Mangalore Central at 16.35 hrs. on Fridays from 16.04.2021 onwards to reach Puducherry at 09.50 hrs. the next day.
Composition: AC 2-tier – 1, AC 3-tier – 1, Sleeper Class – 7, General Second Class – 5 & Luggage-cum-brake van – 2 coaches.
Special Train Services Extended
Western Railway has notified extension of Train No. 09424/09423 Gandhidham – Tirunelveli – Gandhidham Weekly Superfast Festival Special trains as detailed below:
· Train No. 09424 Gandhidham – Tirunelveli Festival Special Train leaving Gandhidham at 04.40 hrs on Mondays will be extended on 03rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st May & 07th, 14th, 21st, 28th June, 2021 (9 Trips)
· Train No. 09423 Tirunelveli – Gandhidham Festival Special Train leaving Tirunelveli at 07.40 hrs on Thursdays will be extended on 06th, 13th, 20th, 27th May & 03rd, 10th, 17th, 24th June & 01st July, 2021 (9 Trips)
