Railways started Timetabled Parcel Special trains to ensure uninterrupted supply-chain of essential commodities across the country during the lockdown in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic.
South Western Railway is operating following Parcel Express Trains: –
1. Train No.00615/00616 KSR Bengaluru – Howrah – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special (Days of Service: from KSR Bengaluru – Friday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday From Howrah: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday)
2. Train No.00616/00617 KSR Bengaluru – Dimapur – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special (Days of Service: from KSR Bengaluru – Saturday From Dimapur: Tuesday)
3. Train No.00625/00626 KSR Bengaluru – H. Nizamuddin – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special (Train runs via Mysuru, Days of Service: from KSR Bengaluru – Friday From Nizamuddin: Monday)
4. Train No.00621/00622 KSR Bengaluru – H. Nizamuddin – KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special (Train runs via Dharmavaram, Days of Service: from KSR Bengaluru –Sunday From Nizamuddin: Tuesday)
In view of very good response to these parcel trains, it is decided to continue the operation of the above Parcel Express Special trains till 31.12.2020.
These trains will run with existing path, stoppage, timings and composition.
These parcel specials are timetabled and have assured delivery time. No minimum limit of load or goods to be carried. Small consignments can also be transported. In addition to specified commercial stoppages, loading of parcels will be permitted at en-route stations also, depending on the demand. Goods can be transported from any station to any station.
At all loading/unloading points, the necessary minimum number of labourers are being deputed and all prescribed precautions are being taken. Labourers have been provided with masks and advised to wash hands thoroughly frequently, including before and after loading. Social distancing is also being ensured during loading and unloading of commodities.
SWR is ensuring 24×7 availability of labour and running of freight trains so that there is no shortage of essential commodities during the locks down.
Stakeholders can make use of the facility and join hands with railways in fighting for the eradication of COVID-19 pandemic.
