Central Railway Mumbai Division corona warriors carried out the maintenance work during mega block on all four lines of main line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Kurla and Kurla-Vashi Up & Dn harbour lines on 26.07.2020.
About 350 corona warriors were working on the following works. Besides, the work of launching girders of Hancock bridge was coordinated by operating a block on all suburban lines between CSMT and Chinchpokli.
Engineering
5 Check rails and 4 cross overs replaced between Sion and Matunga, Through rail renewal for a length of one track km, Alumino-Thermal welding was done at 6 places. Besides, 39 Turnover sleepers were replaced between Parel and Matunga and Ballast dressing for a length of 3.1 km between Matunga and Kurla on Up fast line.
Removal of 2 wagons of muck was also taken up between Sion and Matunga and ballast cleaning done for a length of 2.7 km between Sandhurst Road and Byculla.
Removal of 64 scrap sleepers, replacement work of crossings near Masjid was also completed. On harbour line ballast tamping for 2 km, Alumino-Thermal welding at 8 places, 7 wagons of muck removal between Govandi and Chembur, replacement of turnover sleepers at Kurla.
OHE works
Dismantling of old British era portals and its uprights Contact wire replaced for a length of 640-meter, annual overhauling of OHE of 600 meters, and other maintenance work like replacement of bracket assembly, bonding, insulator, feeder jumper, etc.
These works were carried out with two Crane special, two Tower Wagons and two ladder gangs.
S&T Works
Tongue and stock rail replacement at points, Tuning of Audio Frequency Track Circuits, replaced 6 lead wires and 6 s-bonds of track circuits at Mazgaon, maintenance of 11 Location cabinet boxes, K-board and Point testing at Byculla and Parel and tongue and stock rail replacement at Parel on a crossover, ballast machine packing, disconnection and reconnection of axle counters in tune with engineering works between Matunga and Sion was carried out by Signal and Telecommunication warriors.
