Four gauge conversion projects on East Central Railway, entailing a capex of Rs 305 crore (Rs 185 crore capital outlay and Rs 120 crore under the Deposit head), have been proposed.
The projects are
Mansi -Saharsa – Purnia,
Jaynagar – Darbhanga – Narkatiaganj,
Sakri-Laukaha Bazar – Nirmali,
Saharsa -Forbesganj, and
Jaynagar- Bijalpura, with extension to Bardibas in Nepal.
Nepal will get a broad gauge network connection to IR once the Jaynagar – Bijal section is converted.
