ER accomplished various asset maintenance and developmental works despite lock down viz. dismantling of old structures, maintenance of overhead equipment, track maintenance, track renewal, S & T maintenance work, bridge maintenance work, construction work of ROB & RUB, construction work of new FOB, laying of new line, electrification work etc.
As a part of ER’s endeavour towards achieving complete electrification, work for Electrification of Sagardighi Thermal Power Plant siding, a length of 12 Track Kilometer (TKM), in Malda Division of ER has been completed and Electric run in this siding commissioned on 22/7/20. It will lead to end run daily 5 – 6 pairs of coal rakes on electric traction. This will result in faster and smoother supply coal input to the thermal plant.
Earlier in ER, electrification work in Shivnarayanpur & Bhagalpur (Double line of 23 Route Kilometer) of Malda Division was also completed and commissioned, during lock down period.
