Electronic Interlocking Commissioned at Pandhurna in Central Railway’s Nagpur Division

Pandhurna station on the Nagpur-Itarsi line has received an upgrade to its signalling systems. A new Electronic Interlocking system was commissioned at the station on 30th May 2023.

Indian Railways has been upgrading most stations to the modern computer-based signalling system, known in the organization as Electronic Interlocking (EI) over the past several years.

At Pandhurna, the EI upgrade was part of the 3rd line project currently under execution between Nagpur and Itarsi. Several stations on this route have already been upgraded to EI. Work on others is currently underway.

According to Central Railway, the system was commissioned as per the latest RDSO guidelines and with modern technologies like a standby fuse alarm, Integrated Power Supply system & Fire alarm system to ensure high reliability. All indoor and outdoor signalling gears were replaced. New points were also commissioned with Thick Web Switches to support higher-speed operations.
