IR adds a slew of new projects for final location survey in 2026-27 budget

Indian Railways (IR) has identified and added several new line, doubling, multi-tracking, chord/bypass line, rail flyovers, and gauge conversion projects in this year’s budget. IR will do final location survey of these projects this financial year. The zone-wise new additions to the final location survey are as follows:

Central Railway (CR)

  • Miraj–Kolhapur Double Line (47 km)
  • Chord line between Akurdi and Narayandoho to bypass Ahmednagar (5 km)
  • Chowk–Karjat Double Line (11 km)
  • Lonand–Baramati–Daund Double Line (95 km)
  • Pune–Alandi section (24 km)
  • New BG Double line for connecting NMIA, Konkan and Pune to Mumbai (40 km)
  • Bhigwan to Belanki New Line (190 km)
  • Double Line ROR to bypass Manmad Yard (17 km)

East Coast Railway (ECoR)

  • Konark–Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop (70 km)
  • Second coaching terminal of Puri station on Puri–Konark line (25 km)
  • Coaching maintenance facility at Golanthra (13.5 km)
  • Coaching depot at Maneswar of Sambalpur Division (8.45 km)

East Central Railway (ECR)

  • Samastipur–Hasanpur–Khagaria doubling work along with provision of bypass line between Olapur–Umeshnagar (96 km)
  • Ara–Sasaram doubling with surface connection from new SSM to DN DPC (97 km)
  • Silaut–Jubasahni bypass to decongest Muzaffarpur (23 km)
  • DDU bypass connecting Kuchman to New Ganjkhawa with ROR (6 km)
  • Sakari to Forbesganj doubling work (129 km)
  • Lalitgram–Birpur new line (near Nepal Border) (22 km)
  • New line between Fatuha and Bidupur including bridge on Ganga river (10 km)
  • Neora bypass (6 km)
  • Doubling from Patliputra to Phulwarisharif and Patliputra to Danapur (12 km)
  • Bypass at Biharsharif (4 km)
  • Bypass at Daniyawan (4 km)
  • Rail flyover at Fatuha (6 km)

Eastern Railway (ER)

  • Connecting new Block Station proposed at km 104.7 between Adalpahari and Rampurhat to DN line at Rampurhat (bypass) (5 km)
  • New bypass line to connect Rasulpur (Main Line) to Palla Road (Chord Line) (6 km)
  • New bypass line to connect newly sanctioned station Ganidham to Akbarnagar (22 km)

North Central Railway (NCR)

  • Bina bypass line in connection with 4th line between Agasod and Bina section (32 km)

North Eastern Railway (NER)

  • New line between Rai Bhoja and Bhira Kheri (120 km)
  • Gauge Conversion of Nanpara to Rai Bhoja (13 km)
  • Gauge Conversion of Bhira Kheri to Mailani (16 km)
  • Double Line of Sitapur–Mailani–Pilibhit–Bareilly section (212.3 km)
  • Bhojipura bypass line (Senthal–Deorania) (14 km)
  • Chhapra bypass line (Chhapra Gramin–Manjhi) (30 km)
  • Siwan–Thawe Double Line (28 km)
  • Lal Kuan to Kathgodam Double Line (22 km)

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)

  • Eastern Orbit Rail Corridor, Delhi (NCR) (135 km)
  • Doubling of Delhi Shahdara to Shamli section (87 km)
  • EDFC’s Khurja–Sahnewal and Khurja–Dadri portion along with RFO facility (10 km)
  • Connectivity of EDFC to IR network near Khurja City (5 km)
  • Single line connectivity of EDFC with IR network at Mohiuddinpur of DLI Division (5 km)
  • Chord line connectivity with WDFC’s Faridabad station to Piyala and Palwal (15 km)
  • Masaudha–Darshannagar bypass line with “Y” connection at both ends avoiding decongestion at Ayodhya area (15 km)
  • Bypass line at Bahadur Singh Wala to Kaulseri to avoid reversal at Dhuri (10 km)
  • Bypass line at Bathinda to connect Goneana Bhai Jagta station and Bathinda Cantt. East Cabin with “Y” connection towards Bhucchu (30 km)
  • Chord line at Gajraula to avoid reversal, traffic between Hapur and Bijnor (5 km)
  • Chord line at Chandausi to avoid reversal, traffic between Moradabad and Aligarh (5 km)
  • New bypass line from Naultha to Diwana bypassing Panipat for Rohtak–Delhi traffic (10 km)
  • 3rd line between Gurugram and Kumbhawas Mundalia Halt (DLI–RE section) (45 km)
  • Rail link between proposed New Moradabad station and SRE–MB line (15 km)
  • New line between Sahnewal–Gill–Baddowal bypassing Ludhiana (70 km)
  • Bypass line between Kasu Begu–Khai Phemeki with “Y” connection to avoid reversal at Firozpur Cantt (20 km)
  • Doubling of Mullanpur–Firozpur section (105 km)
  • New line Nakodar–Moga–Bathinda (115 km)
  • Doubling of Chandigarh–Morinda section (45 km)
  • Doubling of Chandigarh–Chandimandir section (9 km)
